A Bucket List For Fall You Won’t Want To Miss

There is so much to do in the fall, so having a bucket list for fall makes sure you’ll be able to pack it all in. From visiting a local pumpkin patch to sipping warm cider by a bonfire, fall is the season that begs for extra cozy moments. Whether you’re a foodie or just someone who loves a good sweater and a scenic stroll, this bucket list will help you make the most of every day this autumn.

Fall has always been my favorite season because there’s just so much to enjoy and anticipate. As the weather cools, people naturally spend more time close to home, which is perfect for a homebody or a hobbyist. The holidays bring plenty of excitement, and let’s be honest, the food this time of year is some of the absolute best. While a fall bucket list usually includes the classics, like a trip to the pumpkin patch, I love making a list each season to stay intentional and ensure I don’t miss out on any of the little things I want to experience.

Bucket List for Fall

1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch & Have a Pumpkin Carving Contest

Take advantage of the weather to be outside while you still can and visit a local farm or pumpkin patch. Make a whole day out of it, get some cider or hot chocolate, and pick out the perfect pumpkin. Take your pumpkin outside in your yard or to a local park and carve it with some friends.

2. Visit an Apple Orchard

Apple orchards are so much fun because you are free to roam the orchard and pick the apples you want directly from the tree. Then you can take your apples home and bake them into a yummy apple crisp or pie.

3. Hike a Scenic Trail To See The Fall Foliage

Find a local trail or just bring a picnic blanket to the park to admire the changing colors of the leaves.

4. Have a Bonfire

As the temperature drops, and bonfire is the perfect way to spend a crisp fall evening. This is an easy one to add to your bucket list for fall. If you don’t have a fire pit available to you try checking out a local campsite, or sometimes farms have some you can reserve for the night.

5. Bake: Try a New Recipe!

Fall has some of the most beloved flavors to bake with. My favorites to make are pumpkin bread and apple crisp, but I indulge in many pumpkin-flavored treats in the autumn.

6. Make Chilis & Soups

Chili and Soup are something I could have year-round, but for some reason, it feels right to have it in the fall. It’s warm and hearty and is at the top of the bucket list for fall this year.

7. Host a (Spooky) Movie Night

Again, take advantage of the weather before it gets too cold and host a movie night outside. Maybe even light a fire to keep warm. Play a classic like “Beetlejuice” or “The Nightmare Before Christmas” or go for something more like “Knives Out,” the perfect mystery. Check out this list of the perfect movies you have to watch this fall

8. Decorate With Autumn Decor

Take some time this season to swap out the summer flowers with a couple of pumpkins and add in a few fall-scented candles to your everyday decor. It doesn’t take much to create a cozy fall atmosphere you’ll want to come home to every night.

9. Plan Your Halloween Costume (& For Your Pt)

Start planning out the perfect Halloween costume for your fall bucket list. Whether you’re going to a party, hosting, or just handing out candy, it is fun to dress up. I love to get costumes for my dog as well. They are so cute, even if he doesn’t wear them for long, it brings me a lot of joy.

10. Host a Halloween Party (Costumes Encouraged)

If you have nowhere to go on Halloween, host your own party. Decorate with some spooky decor, make a signature drink, and have a costume contest for your guests.

11. Start a New Cozy Hobby

Fall is the perfect time of year to start a new cozy hobby. Spend some time at home, coloring, doing a puzzle, reading, knitting, baking, or whatever brings you joy! Add a new goal to your bucket list for fall.

12. Go To a Tailgate Before a Football Game

It’s football season again! Regardless of how you feel about the actual games, a tailgate is a great way to spend time with your friends outside and eat some great food.

13. Host a Football Sunday

Watching a football game (or falling asleep to one) is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Use it as an excuse to gather with some friends. Make some fall appetizers and cozy up on the couch.

14. Participate in Local Festivals & Events (Oktoberfest)

There are numerous festivals and local gatherings held during the fall. One of my favorites is Oktoberfest. How can you beat a warm soft pretzel and a seasonal beer?

15. Go Camping

Add a camping trip to your autumn bucket list. The weather is cool enough to sleep comfortably, and you can check off a few other items on your autumn bucket list.  Have a bonfire to keep warm in the evenings, go for a hike on a scenic trail to admire the leaves, and make Chili over the fire.

16. Stay In a Cozy Cabin

Plan a weekend away for some solo self-care, a romantic getaway, or a group trip with friends. A cabin in the woods is the perfect way to enjoy the changing leaves.

17. Plan a Foliage Trip To New England

The Northeast US is known for the amazing fall foliage. If you want to take a long weekend trip away this fall, consider traveling to the Northeast.

18. Host a Friendsgiving

Your friends are your chosen family, so why shouldn’t you get to celebrate big holidays with them as well? Host a Friendsgiving this year, a few weeks before Thanksgiving. Make it a potluck to cut down on the amount of time you spend in the kitchen.

19. Watch Your Comfort Show’s Halloween & Thanksgiving Episodes

Most sitcoms have Halloween and Thanksgiving episodes each season. Look up the seasons and episodes of your favorite show to make a list of the ones that are fall-themed.

20. Have a Pumpkin Spice Taste Test

There are so many snacks that come out around this time of year that are pumpkin spice-flavored. Have a little fun and get together with a few friends to do a taste test. Trader Joe’s is great for this, but you can find pumpkin spice in any store.

21. Visit a Corn Maze

Visit a local farm with a corn maze and map your way through the corn.

22. Take a Hayride

Many local farms also have hayrides, which are fun for kids, but I have also enjoyed them as an adult, especially if they drop you at a pumpkin patch to pick out your pumpkin!

23. Make The Perfect PSL At Home

If you are a fan of the pumpkin spice latte, try making it at home this year. This is a great morning ritual to start the day and might save you some money.

24. Visit The Farmer’s Market For Seasonal Veggies

If the local farmer’s market is still open for the season, make sure to stop by to check out the seasonal veggies. Make some fall-inspired meals with the veggies you buy.

25. Host a Cozy Craft Night

Add a cozy craft night with friends to your autumn bucket list. Set out some snacks and drinks, and invite everyone to bring along a craft or hobby they’re working on. It’s a fun way to share ideas, get inspired, and maybe even discover a new hobby you’d love to try.

Final Thoughts

There really is so much to love about fall, and having a bucket list for fall is the best way to soak up every bit of the season. From cozy nights at home with a good book to crisp outdoor adventures surrounded by colorful leaves, autumn gives us endless opportunities to be present and intentional. Whether you’re chasing the big seasonal traditions like pumpkin patches and apple picking or simply slowing down with a warm drink and a favorite sweater, each activity is a little reminder of what makes this time of year so special. For me, fall always feels like an invitation to savor the simple joys, embrace comfort, and make memories close to home. So grab your list, check off a few new experiences, and let this autumn be one you’ll look back on with a smile.
